BALDWIN, William M. Born 1875 Neenah, died 1926 Racine, Wisconsin USA. Active in Chicago from 1895; later established in Racine. Self-taught maker. Personal model called the ‘Baldwin’; also copies of the Stradivari ‘Messie’ violin. Made and sold varnish commercially and ran a correspondence course in violin making.
