CHEVRIER, Amable Born 1823 Mirecourt, died 1916 Cherbourg France. Eldest son of Claude Chevrier. Worked for Gaulard in Troyes and Pape (piano makers) in Paris before opening his own shop in Cherbourg 1853. Shop continued under A. Magne. A few fine instruments but mostly occupied with repair and restoration. Sometimes inscribed within: ‘A. Chevrier’. Printed label: A. Chevrier Luthier à Cherbourg
