A viol of his, of peculiar shape, with double purfling, was exhibited in the South Kensington Museum in 1872. The old head and neck had been replaced by the work of one of the Banks, of Salisbury. Label : ” John Strong, Sommerset, 16—.”

Eine Viola von ihm war 1872 in South Kensington ausgestellt. Er war vielleicht von den Brescianern beeinflusst, verwendete doppelte Einlagen und hatte eigene Modelle. Er dürfte auch der Verfertiger der angeblich von Lord Sommerset erfundenen achtsaitigen Bass-Gamba gewesen sein, die Prinz 1649 erwähnt.
