BRENSI, Girolamo Born 1540, d. after 1603 Bologna Italy. Son of Antonio Brensi, above. Viola da braccio preserved in Bologna Conservatoire. Two violas ascribed to him are broadly Brescian in style, though with flatter arching and some influence of Amati in the detail of soundhole and purfling. Scroll more carefully carved and concentric than Brescian contemporaries. Heronymus Brensins Bonon
