John Dilworth
HAENEL, Frederick Ewald Born circa. 1895 Saxony Germany, Worked 1938-1960 Canada & USA. Trained in Germany, working from 1918. Established in Winnipeg, Canada c.1938; later in Toronto, then Buffalo, New York, and from c.1940, New Haven, and Boston. Ceased making new instruments 1960. One very fine viola, copy of Gaspar da Salò, very accurately observed and authentic in style and workmanship. Thin golden-yellow varnish. Frederick E. Haenel / Fiddle Mountain / New Haven Conn.
