Tay Boon Lay is a Singaporean violin maker who was born into a musical family in Singapore. She studied violin at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London before continuing her studies in violin making in Cremona, Italy. Instruments bearing her label, including violins and violas, are recorded from at least 1981 onward and are labelled as having been made in Cremona. Her work has appeared in specialist violin dealer catalogues, auction records, and exhibitions, including a 1985 Singapore exhibition devoted to her instruments.
