Reale Puglisi

Maker Overview

Reale Puglisi was an Italian instrument-making firm based in Catania, Sicily, founded by Giuseppe Reale Puglisi in the late 19th century. The workshop produced violins, violas, cellos, mandolins, guitars, and other stringed instruments, combining traditional Italian craftsmanship with workshop production methods.

After Giuseppe Reale Puglisi’s death in 1909, the workshop was continued by his sons, including Michelangelo Puglisi and Concetto Puglisi, and became one of the best-known Sicilian makers of the early 20th century. The firm continued operating until the workshop was destroyed during the bombing of Catania in 1943.

Instruments bearing the G. Puglisi Reale i Figlio label are valued for their historical connection to the Sicilian school of violin making and are found in collections and private ownership worldwide.
