A valuation is a conversation, not an examination: around fifteen minutes, with no obligation.
What happens on the day
If we can help we will, no pressure to sell, just an appraisal of value.
Bring your instrument
Violin, viola, cello, double bass or bow, with any papers or family history you have, though none is needed.
Meet the specialist
An Amati expert examines the instrument with you and talks you through what it is, its condition, and its likely value.

Questions people ask
Is the valuation really free?
Yes, completely, whether or not you ever sell with us. Valuing instruments is how we meet the people and instruments that make our auctions.
Do I have to sell my instrument?
No. Many people come simply to find out what they own, for insurance, or out of curiosity. There is never any obligation or pressure.
What should I bring?
Just the instrument or bow. If you have certificates, receipts, old valuations or family history, bring those too (they can help), but none is required.
How long does it take?
Around fifteen minutes per instrument. If you’re bringing several, let us know and we’ll allow more time.
What if I can’t make any of the dates?
You can get a free valuation online by sending photographs, or book a video consultation, or call us on +44 (0)20 7099 7114.
