John Dilworth
HOPF, Christian August Worked from 1780 Klingenthal Germany. Various grades of work: some unpurfled for trade sale; better instruments with purfling and better wood, etc. Very low flat arch with broad edge channel. Light brown or orange varnish. Branded on the inside of back: ‘C. A. Hopf’ or ‘Hopf’, Manuscript label: Christian August Hopf / Violinmacher in / Klingenthal, 1782
