HUMPHREY, George Born 1904 Bellaire, Ohio, died 1981 Arlington, Massachusetts USA. Pupil of F. E. Haenel. Professional viola player. Established in Arlington from 1939. Specialised in making violas, generally of 16” (40.6cm) body length. Guarneri, Gaspar, Landolphi, and personal models; about 25 made in total. Gold medal at Liège 1949.
