John Dilworth

BRANDILIONI, Filippo Worked circa. 1775-1834 Brescia Italy. Rarely encountered maker of obscure origin. Vannes compares his style with Leopold Widhalm, Henley makes the connection with Mittenwald, and the supposition is that he was of German origin, with an Italianised name. Scrolls seen with an ebony or painted line around the spine of the pegbox and volute. Red-brown or soft textured orange varnish. Philippus Brandilioni / fecit Brisciae, 1801
