In 1891 he started business on his own account as a violin and bow maker and repairer, but he devotes his time principally to bow-making. His workmanship is excellent, and his bows have a graceful and durable camhre^ which, together with a nice balance, gives them a place in the front rank of modern bows. Allen was born in Cornwall in 1858, and was educated for the scholastic profession.
