John Dilworth+

ALLEN, Samuel Worked circa. 1815-1818 Medway, Massachusetts USA. Carpenter and architect. Worked with W. Green. Produced American ‘church basses’ and double basses. [Wenberg]

William Meredith Morris+

is principally a bow-maker. He was for several years in the employ of the Messrs. Hill, and was held in high esteem by them as a first-class workman. In 1891 he started business on his own account as a violin and bow maker and repairer, but he devotes his time principally to bow-making. His workmanship is excellent, and his bows have a graceful and durable camhre^ which, together with a nice balance, gives them a place in the front rank of modern bows. Allen was born in Cornwall in 1858, and was educated for the scholastic profession.
