John Dilworth
ASCHAUER, Ludwig Born 1919 Stuttgart Germany, Worked from 1959 Salt Lake City & San Francisco USA. Son of Leo Aschauer, above. Worked in Markneukirchen and Graz before moving to Mittenwald in 1949. Emigrated to the USA 1959, working for one year in Salt Lake City for Pearce, for whom he had previously made unvarnished instruments in Germany. Subsequently went to Hans Weisshaar in San Francisco. Prolific maker. Antiqued finish on classical models. Branded internally: ‘LA’ [Wenberg]
