BALL, Frank Cannon Born 1881 Abbotsford, Quebec Canada Pupil of J. Bradford in Granby, Quebec. Moved to Boston, working for Walter Goss from 1907 and later for O. H. Bryant. Established in Springfield, Massachusetts from 1925. Early work on Guarneri and Amati models; adopted a Stradivari pattern c.1955. ‘Amber-spirit’ varnish, shaded red to orange brown. Over 120 instruments made, generally of fine workmanship. Regraduated bv Frank C. Ball Springfield. Mass. 1922 [Wenberg]
