BAYEUR, Rosario Born 1875 St. Paulin, Quebec, died 1944 Montreal Canada Apprenticed as a cabinet maker. Initially self-taught as a violin maker, settling in Montreal 1907. Studied in Paris with E. Germain 1920-1923 and returned to Montreal. Subsequent instruments show the benefits of this experience. Used models from all the classical makers, occasionally with native Canadian woods. Pale gold or light-brown varnish. Branded: ‘Bayeur’ Printed label: Rosario Bayeur Montreal 1925
