Tomaso Carcassi
Florence
Tomaso Carcassi was an 18th-century Florentine violin maker who worked closely with his brother Lorenzo. Active circa 1750–1780, the Carcassi brothers were likely pupils of Giovanni Battista Gabrielli and followed the high-arched Stainer model popular in Florence at the time. Their instruments often feature elegant scrolls, deeply cut f-holes, and golden Italianate varnish. Though they occasionally worked independently, most surviving examples bear joint labels and reflect their collaborative craftsmanship.
