Biographies
John Dilworth
CAVALLI, Aristide Born 1856 Alessandria, Piedmont, died 1931 Cremona Italy. Son and pupil of Savino Cavalli, below. Trained also with G. Beltrani. Established at Cremona 1880, where he founded the ‘Officina C. Monteverdi’ which successfully produced instruments for some years, employing several craftsmen. He later taught at the Cremona International School of Violin Making. Decorated ‘Cavaliere’ by the Italian Government. Original model derived from Beltrani. Dark red-brown varnish of good quality.
