Albert Claudot

Dijon

Albert Claudot was a 20th-century French violin maker born in Mirecourt in 1899. He trained under his uncle François Claudot in Dijon and later became his associate. In 1936, Albert established his own workshop on Rue Amiral Roussin in Dijon. He produced around 45 violins, typically modeled after Stradivari and Guarneri. His instruments feature red or red-orange oil varnish and are marked with his name both inside and externally beneath the tailpiece button.
