Maker Overview
Cuniot-Hury and Émile François Ouchard collaborated in Mirecourt during the early 20th century. Ouchard apprenticed under Eugène Cuniot-Hury and became a key assistant in the workshop. After Cuniot-Hury’s death in 1910, Ouchard continued the business, producing bows under both names during the transitional period.
Some bows from this era are stamped “Cuniot-Hury” but show Ouchard’s distinctive hand, especially in head and frog design. Others are explicitly labeled as joint works, often modeled after Tourte and crafted from fine pernambuco.
