John Dilworth

DE BARBIERI, Paolo Born 1889, died 1955 Genoa Italy. Pupil and brother-in-law of Cesare Candi; working from 1918. Own atelier in Genoa from 1938. Copies of Stradivari and Guarneri and, in particular, Paganini’s del Gesù ‘Cannone’ violin, housed in the civic museum, Genoa. Gold medal in Barcelona 1929, silver medals in Florida 1931, and Cremona 1949. Fine workmanship and clear brilliant red varnish.
