DE PLANIS, Augustino Born circa. 1725, died 1800 Genoa Italy. Rather loose work, typical of the Genovese school. Long ‘c’ bouts and diminutive corners. Slender pegbox, although broad from the rear aspect, with small volute. Long angled soundholes and flat arch with pale yellow-gold varnish over a grey ground. His son Antonio (died 1841) was also a maker, but his work has not been positively identified. Augustinus de Planis / fecit Genuae 1750 [Kass]
