John Dilworth
DIEHL, Martin (I) Born 1741, died 1793 Mainz Germany. Son of soldier/musician Alexander Diehl. Pupil of his father-in-law Nicolaus Döpfer. Later worked for Karl Joseph Helmer in Prague. Klotz-like work of variable quality. Fairly prolific production includes many cellos, distinguished by large, upright soundholes, and double basses with viol outline.
