FLETA, Manuel Born 1890 Huesca Spain Active from 1905. Worked with Jaime in Barcelona from 1907 and later for E. Maire and P. Le Duc. Established independently 1915, assisted by brothers Bienvenido and Ignacio. Classical models; his Stradivari pattern cello was praised by Casals. Yellow- or golden-red varnish. Bienvenido mostly specialised in producing fine double basses. Ignacio ingeniously replicated a whole series of ancient viols; also Gothic harps, lutes, rebecs, and vihuelas.
