FONTANINI, Andrea Pietro Born 1871 Cremona, died 1923 Salò Italy. Pupil of Aristide Cavalli in Cremona; later foreman of Cavalli’s ‘Monteverdi’ workshop. Teacher there of R. Muncher and L. Digiuni. Established in Brescia from 1906 and in Salò from 1911. Credited with 200 violins made on several classical models. Also made plucked instruments.
