FREEMAN, Samuel D. Born 1909 Mathews County, Virginia, Worked Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania USA. Amateur maker since 1935. On retirement from the Aircraft Industry 1970, joined Edward Campbell to work full-time making instruments. 54 violins, five violas, and nine cellos completed. Stradivari, Guarneri, and personal models. Used Michelman and own-prepared oil varnishes. [Wenberg]
