John Dilworth

GOULD, John Alfred Born 1866 Windermere UK, died 1944 Boston USA. Trained in Liverpool with W. F. Archer. Emigrated to Hamilton, Canada 1884. Awarded diploma at the Hamilton Industrial Exhibition 1884. Employed by Orin Weeman in Boston from 1885. Established his own workshop there 1889; later assisted by four sons, the business known as J. A. Gould & Sons. Instruments made in Rome, Maine during the summer months. Cremonese and personal models. Extensive use of local American woods with fine oil varnish. John A. Gould Boston, Mass.
