GÜNTHER, Gustav Born 1853 Radegast, died 1929 Mainz Germany. Pupil of Bausch. Worked in Magdeburg from 1879, established in Mainz from 1881, taking over the business of A. Milch at 46 Lauterenstrasse. Stradivari-derived model. Rather undistinguished work, rarely encountered. Cello illustrated in Michels. Manuscript label: Gust. Günter f(ecit) / Mainz anno 1897
