Biographies

John Dilworth

HENRY, Joseph Born 1823 Mirecourt, died 1870 Paris France. Bow maker, active in Paris from 1837. Worked for Chanot, Peccatte, and from 1848, in partnership with P. Simon. Awarded a commendation at the 1849 Paris exhibition. Established independently from 1851 in rue des Vieux Augustins, from which period comes his most beautiful and elegant work. Many bows made for Gand frères. Round sticks, dark red-brown in colour. Branded: HENRY A PARIS, although most of his bows carry the brands of his employers.
