A maker in Hamburg about 1765-1800. Good violins, violas, violoncellos, and double-basses of his are known ; he was also extremely skilful in repairing old instruments.

Willibald Leo Lütgendorff

War ursprünglich Formschneider in einer Kattunfabrik und erwarb als solcher 1792 das Hamburgische Bürgerrecht. Später wandte er sich dem Instrumentenbau zu und arbeitete noch 1805 unter der Leitung des Geigenvirtuosen Bernhard Romberg. Unter seinen Instrumenten sollen namentlich die grösseren, also Bässe, Violoncelli und Bratschen, sehr
geschätzt gewesen sein und wurden schon im Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts ziemlich theuer bezahlt. In einem sehr schön und sauber gearbeiteten Cello sah ich den
folgenden Zettel. Dunkelröthlich-brauner Lack.
