HOYER, Franz Georg Born 1891 Czech Republic, Worked circa. 1922 Eger Hungary. Pupil of Joseph Lang in Luby and afterward in Markneukirchen. Worked in Plesná and Brno in Czech Republic, from 1915, Eger, Hungary 1916 and Franzensbad, Czech Republic from 1919, where he worked with Gustav Schmidt, principally on violas. Returned to Eger 1922, devoting much time there to varnish experimentation. Prolific maker of stringed instruments of all kinds, specialising in plucked instruments towards the end of his career.
