Maker Overview
Life
French bow makers of the Mirecourt school. Members of the Adam family of luthiers and bow makers, they worked in collaboration during the nineteenth century producing violin bows in the classical French tradition. Their bows show refined Mirecourt workmanship, elegant heads, well-made frogs and good-quality pernambuco. The joint attribution is associated with the Adam family workshop and represents an early phase of the French bow-making tradition that developed under the influence of the Tourte school.
