John Dilworth

KOK, Johan Warnaar Born 1819, died 1889 Amsterdam Netherlands Pupil of L. Bernardel in Amsterdam c.1836 with his brother Gerrit Kok, below. Possibly also taught by J. J. Grandjon. Established as Kok Brothers in Sint Janstraat, Amsterdam 1848. Continued the business of J. B. Lefebvre from 1857. Very French in style, but occasional examples have whalebone purfling acknowledging the earlier Dutch tradition. [NGV]
