John Dilworth

LENOBLE, Auguste Born 1828 Haroué, Mirecourt, died 1895 Paris France. According to Grillet, a pupil of Dominique Peccatte, although Millant sees no working connection. On military service 1848-1862 and stationed at Rennes, where he may have encountered Bonnel. Established in Paris from 1862, at 37 rue de Clignancourt, the home of Peccatte’s widow. Lenoble thereafter served as master to Charles Peccatte. From 1866 his workshop was found at 32 Boulevard Rochechouart. Formed a partnership with Peccatte 1874-1881, based in the rue de Clignancourt. Good if not distinguished work of the Paris school. Rarely encountered. [Millant/Raffin]
