John Dilworth

MERLING, Pauli Born 1894 Copenhagen Denmark. Apprenticed to Bojesen Petersen before moving to Dresden to work for Rudolphe Heckel. Subsequently employed by Rummelhoff Hansen in Oslo and Emil Hjorth in Copenhagen. Established independently in Copenhagen from 1921. Awarded first prize medal and diplomas of honour at The Hague 1949. Classical Italian models with shaded varnish; very high quality craftsmanship. Branded in cursive style: ‘ Pauli Merling’.
