MITTEIS, Anton Born 1791, fl.from 1826, died 1870 Litomerice Czech Republic. Pupil of Staufer at Vienna. Established independently in Litomerice from 1826. Very fine work on Stradivari model with orange-red spirit varnish. Some Russian style guitar shaped violins, lacking overhanging edges and corners.
