Carl Gottlob Nurnberger
Markneukirchen, d. 1868
Carl Gottlob Nürnberger is the first documented bow maker of the Nürnberger line, and the man from whom the whole family descends. Grünke names him, alongside Christian Süss, as one of the two important pupils of the C. W. Knopf workshop, which pioneered the modern bow in Markneukirchen. He appears in the town records as a bow maker in either 1823 or 1824.

Life
His name is unusually slippery. He is filed variously as Carl Gottlob, Christian Gottlob and Karl Gottlieb, and no parish or civil register has yet been produced to settle which form is correct. He was the father and teacher of Franz Albert Nürnberger I.
