John Dilworth

August (Nurnberger-Suess) Born 1875 Markneukirchen, died 1944 Novato, California USA. Bow maker. Son and pupil of Adolf Nürnberger, above and grandfather J. C. Suess who persuaded him to adopt the name after the death of Suess’ own son and heir. Established independently in 1900. Emigrated to the USA 1912. Founded his own business in Novato, California. Fine bows for all stringed instruments on various models and in several grades. Pernambuco wood with silver or gold mounted; fittings largely prepared by his mother. Bows of lower grade branded: VOIRIN. Bows of superior grade branded: TOURTE. Best quality bows branded: AUGUST NURNBERGER-SUESS
