By John Dilworth

ORY Worked circa. 1790-1814 Paris France. Three labels cited by Vannes; the only instruments recorded by him are guitars. Henley describes instruments, presumably violins, of massive proportions, flat modelling, and dark brown varnish, which might seem to indicate generic Mirecourt work. No such examples presently known. Guitar of 1814 branded: ‘Ory à Paris’ Ory Luthier / Rue Neuve St. Eustache 56, Paris 1814 Ory Luthier / rue des petits / careaux no 212/ à Paris
