John Dilworth

PONCIN, Charles Jean Joseph Born 1854 Temploux, died 1933 Brussels Belgium. Violin and bow maker. Worked for the piano maker Erard in Paris. Moved to Brussels 1879. Worked for Mougenot under the direction of J. Marchand. Established independently from 1908. Completed about 40 violins and cellos; Stradivari and Guarneri models. Fine golden-yellow and deep red oil varnish of his own formula. Instruments branded on lower rib. Bows branded: PONCIN Charles Poncin / Bruxelles 1900
