John Dilworth

RITTIG, Cristoforo Worked circa. 1675-1692 Genoa Italy. Important early influence on the Genoese school. Possibly originating from Füssen, but no other information presently available. May have been the teacher of Calcanius. Cellos in the Heyer Collection catalogue dated 1680 with 74 cm (291/8”) body length. Another listed in the Kraus catalogue (Florence, 1901) dated 1692. Violin also extant dated 1682: impressive form; medium arch with fine widely-set Amatisé soundholes and somewhat Rogeri-like scroll.
