Maker Overview
Life
German violin maker and dealer of the Markneukirchen tradition. Son, pupil and successor of Ludwig Barth, he worked in Stuttgart where he produced and supplied violins based on classical Italian models. His instruments reflect the craftsmanship of the Saxon-German school, with careful construction, selected materials and traditional varnishing. In 1934 he took over the direction of the family works and remained active until his retirement in 1944.
