John Dilworth

ROUMEN, Lodewich Willem Joannes Born 1777 Maastricht, died 1854 Kampen Netherlands. Active in Gröningen c.1802, Kampen c.1804, and Utrecht 1810. Established in Amsterdam 1825 at 159 Kalverstraat. Retired in 1843 to Kampen leaving the business in the hands of his son Joannes, above. Several different hands probably involved in his varied production. Some very Mirecourt-like; others in the style of Cuypers. Often with whalebone purfling. Thin yellow varnish. L. W. Roumen fecit / Amsterdam Ao. 1826 Amsterdam / L. W. Roumen
