SCHMIDT, Max Willibald b. Markneukirchen Germany, died 1946 Boise, Idaho USA. Trained in Markneukirchen. Emigrated to the USA 1913. Worked in San Francisco and Seattle. Retired to Boise but continued making new instruments until his death. 50 instruments, including some fine cellos. Guarneri-derived model violins. Spirit varnish. [Wenberg]
