SCHOLES, Arthur L. Born 1870 Stamford, Lincolnshire, died 1956 Bedford UK. Worked from c.1890-1914 in Rushden, Northamptonshire, later moving to Bedford. Settled in Archer Street, London in 1926, but removed to Bedford c.1940. 99 violins completed on 1714 ‘Dolphin’ Stradivari, Guarneri, and personal models. Good workmanship and materials. Oil varnish. Made by / Arthur L. Scholes / Rushden. England. / No.11 1914.
