Pupil of O. Schünemann. Established in Königstrasse, Lübeck from 1896. Appointed luthier to the Mecklenburg court 1907. Workshop destroyed by bombing in 1942, forcing his retirement. Awarded medals at Turin and Schwerin. Very fine workmanship on classical models. Excellent materials and varnishes. — John Dilworth

Willibald Leo Lütgendorff+
Schüler von Otto Schünemann. Nachdem er in Rostock, Hamburg etc. als Gehilfe gearbeitet hatte, liess er sich 1896 in Lübeck als Geigenmacher nieder und fand durch seine ungewöhnliche Kunstfertigkeit bald einen ausgedehnten Kundenkreis. Er ist ebenso tüchtig im Neubau wie in der Wiederherstellung alter Geigen, verarbeitet prachtvolles, altes Holz und versteht sich trefflich auf das Lackiren. Er fertigt alle Theile an seinen Geigen selbst an und zeichnet sich durch grösste Sorgfalt aus.
