SCHWALM, Alexander Augustovitsch Worked circa. 1885-1914 St. Petersburg Russia. Pupil of E. Geisser. Appointed luthier to the Imperial Opera and Conservatoire in St. Petersburg. Established at 6 Offitzerskaya. Took a Stradivari violin of 1718 as a pattern, but used rather poor wood. Stradivari-modelled cellos more successful.
