SCROLLAVEZZA, Renato Born 1927 Castelnuovo Fogliani, Piacenza, Worked from 1955 Parma Italy. Graduate of the Cremona School of Violin Making. Established in Parma. One of the senior figures in 20th century Italian lutherie. Teacher at the violin schools of Parma and Milan 1975-1983. Withdrew from professional production in 1980 to concentrate on private research. Appointed curator of the 1743 ‘Cannone’ Guarneri of Paganini in Genoa 1988-2000. Succeeded by his daughter Elisa (Born 1967). Many prizes awarded: Rome 1956, Ancona 1957 and 1958, Pegli 1960, Ascoli Piceno 1959, Poznan 1962 and 1967, Liège 1963 and 1966, and Cremona 1963 and 1965.
