STEINER, Josef (II) Born 1862, died 1908 Lengberg Austria. Trained as a cabinet maker. Studied painting in Munich. Self-taught violin maker who devoted much time and research to varnish. Inconsistent output, although some work very fine and successful. Made various forms of plucked instruments, as well as instruments of the violin family.
