John Dilworth

THOMASSIN, Claude Auguste Born 1865 Mirecourt, died 1942 Tribaldou France. Bow maker. Son and pupil of Louis Thomassin, below. Apprenticed to C. N. Bazin. Subsequently went to Paris to work for Gand & Bernardel c.1885. There he picked up the Paris style of Voirin, which he developed after establishing his own business1901 at 37 Rue de Paradis. Died in Tribaldou, Seine et Marne on a fishing expedition. Prolific maker. Usually round stick, dark colour, branded: C.THOMASSIN A PARIS in three differing typefaces. [Millant/Raffin]
